Welcome to our newest Courtland Cougar students and staff, and welcome back to those returning to Courtland.  We are so excited about this upcoming school year!  Staff members are busy planning and preparing for your arrival to provide a successful start to the school year.  As staff serving this community, we look forward to continuing our learning journey together with you and your children throughout the 2023-2024 school year.

Your child’s first day will involve orientation activities with their homeroom, as well as within their rotary schedules. Activities will include a number of opportunities for students to get to know their classmates, teachers, and their own learning styles and needs. Lockers will be assigned on day one, so we encourage students to have a lock ready for use as soon as possible as students will be expected to use the lockers daily.  Chromebooks will be assigned to students for the second week of school- please sign the ‘Responsible Use Agreement’ for students to be able to use their devices promptly.   In addition to the meaningful work students do in the classroom, we strongly encourage all students to get involved in activities outside of the classroom.  There are a wide variety of activities, teams and clubs addressing many interests.  Getting involved at Courtland is a great way to meet new friends and develop new interests and skills.

At your convenience starting September 3 and throughout the weekend, you will be able to determine your child’s homeroom teacher using School-Day. When you log into your account, click “Schools and Groups” on the blue left hand side menu, then click “Your Classes.” This will show the classes and groups your child is linked to within our school.  Note – Class lists may change up until the morning of Friday, September 9, 2022, due to ongoing registrations.

In addition to sharing your student’s classroom assignments via  School Day (as of September 3rd), we will have caring and supportive staff ready to welcome and assist all of our students on the first day to learn their homeroom and homeroom teachers.  The staff will be wearing purple shirts and/or safety vests, and will meet all of our students on the school field and tarmac at the back of the school.  Students will enter the school together with the bell to meet as a whole school in the gym.  There will be student lists posted and staff with signs and class lists to separate our students into their homerooms.  Each class schedule has students starting in their homerooms everyday throughout the year, so they will always know where to start the day. We will make the first day transitions as smooth as possible and take care of each of our students.

Looking forward to seeing you all very soon!
